On Thursday 8th January 2015, Year 2 went to QMC to study plants.
We went on a trail outside to explore how plants survive in winter.
We dissected a bud to see the different layers that make it up and protect it from the weather. We saw how evergreen leaves are thick and waxy to help them survive the winter.
We examined seeds under the microscope
We planted our own seeds in soil ready to grow in the spring.

We have been very busy this half term in Year 2!
Our term started with an amazing visit from the Hampshire fire service. We got to ride in the fire engine and even use the hose! We learnt a lot about fire safety and how different things were in1666 during the Great Fire of London.
We also did some drama to explore how we would feel if we had been involved in the Great Fire of London.
In Science we have been exploring different materials and describing them. We had great fun playing with slime! Is it a solid or a liquid?
We are looking forward to an exciting second half of the Autumn term and lots more learning!
Bye for now!
